This is the weirdest crash I’ve ever seen. First thought is bike failure but I don’t see anything break. Looks like it was a bump in the road bounced the bars out of his hands. I had a big time oh snap moment out on the dirt roads once. Fast downhill, hands relaxed on the hoods and unexpected bump. I saved it with my forearms on the tops. Big time OH SNAP moment.
This video is killer. A dude rode the race on a moto with helmet cam and got some sweet video. The new CyclingDirt.org site is just what mtb racing needed. They’re doing a great job.
I like Greg LeMond… I know he means well… but it always seems like he goes about it the wrong way. Here’s a video of him at the Lance Armstrong press conference at Interbike.
He just comes across as kinda crazy. Frankly his argument is kinda weird to me too. He says that performance alone is an indicator of doping. Or… if you get faster you must be doping? The Drunk Cyclist thinks Greg has a valid point… so maybe I’m just dumb.
I think the DNA passport thingy-ma-bob sounds like a better idea.
Wiens was one of my favorite mtb racers back in the mid 90’s and this interview pretty much explains why. Just a cool down to earth guy.
I especially like the bit where he writes about the “looming event” style of motivating yourself to train.
If your exercise or training has a purpose and is aimed toward an event or goal, it’s more likely to happen and it will be a more rewarding experience. Kudos to everyone that accepts a challenge requiring hard work and commitment, whatever it may be, and follows through to the best of their abilities and life constraints, to be able to give their best effort at “go time.”
