Weekend Adventure

Saturday I did a HTFU ride in the rain. I heard Big Worm, Terry and Zak did the same. Spot on lads!

On Sunday my morning was spoken for and when the afternoon rolled around I decided I had to tackle a challenge that’s been in my mind for a few weeks now. I ran all the hiking trails at Phipps. Ended up around 7.5 miles but it took an hour and a half. I’m still hydrating like it’s September and I had to pee 4 times. I think my dog pee’d about 50 times. The carpet of leaves on the ground made it a little tricky. Those trails are dang rooty and I had a few near ankle rolls. Even my dog tripped on a root and how often do you see a dog trip on a root?

It doesn’t seem like so long ago that my thermometer looked like this.

it's to darn hot

Back in the saddle

Well it’s been 1 month since the Tom Brown race and I’ve ridden 3 times, run 5 times, and done a whole bunch of home improvement. We still aren’t moved into the new house but should be in 2 more weeks. I’m fresh and ready to start putting in saddle time. I’m a little concerned about my crotch, it’s already gotten soft. I better put a lot of chamois lube on for the Spaghetti 100k.

Terry C. is dripping with enthusiasm and it’s a great thing to see. Riding home from the group sunday thinking about his enthusiasm definately has me inspired to start putting in the hours. He did a nice guest blog for juancho about the man trying to make us soft by destroying our hills.

Adventure on the horizon

Looks like I’ll get my Fool’s Gold adventure in August. Dan and Ken F. are in for sure so that’s 3 strong which is enough, but the more the merrier. So here’s a shout out to Tallahassee MTB riders, join other like minded individuals for 50 (or 100) tough but gratifying miles in the North Georgia mountains followed by food, live music and beer. You can race it or ride it, whatever tickles your fancy.

I’m thinking I’m gonna race 50. My training is getting back on track and I’ve got 3 more weeks of riding and 1 week of resting.

lady track
Here’s a pic of Erica (far left) and Riley Fowler (far right) at the thursday track meet last night. This is supposed to be 2 and under race, I think that other girl is sandbagging or maybe she’s 2.9 years old or just big for he age. Riley took right to the running and got 3rd at her first track meet. Click on the thumbnail for a bigger pic.
