Jens Voight wierd crash

This is the weirdest crash I’ve ever seen. First thought is bike failure but I don’t see anything break. Looks like it was a bump in the road bounced the bars out of his hands. I had a big time oh snap moment out on the dirt roads once. Fast downhill, hands relaxed on the hoods . . . → Read More: Jens Voight wierd crash

The 40 tooth big chainring experiment

I’ve been running a 40 tooth big ring for about 3 months now. So much so I have to wonder why 44 is the default in the first place.

I used an FSA DH/SS ring with no ramps or pins and only 3mm thick. Definitely not ideal but it’s surprisingly hard to find a 40 tooth ring. . . . → Read More: The 40 tooth big chainring experiment

Starting friday we’re going to Lil E’s final doctor appointment in Jax, then it’s down to the inlaws in Ormond Beach. It’s ok to visit but if I had to live . . . → Read More: Raging the Flats

Race Report: Thunderbolt Classic 2009

Went up to Thomaston, GA with Chris, Jim and Darren saturday morning to recapture my youth at one of my favorite race courses in the southeast. We met our insulin challenged friend Phil at the race course and thus commenced a classic boys weekend of camping, story telling, eating, drinking and racing.

Sharpening the knife

3 weeks out from Bump&Grind and the knife sharpening has begun. Only rode 8.5 hours last week but every ride but Tuesday’s had some sort of intensity to it. Long hours dull the knife so now I try to use the knife as little as possible but keep it sharp with high intensity.

Can’t say I feel . . . → Read More: Sharpening the knife
